Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Masagos Zulkifli to Attend the 22nd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Marrakesh, Morocco

Minister Masagos will represent Singapore at COP-22 in Morocco, focusing on implementing the Paris Agreement, which Singapore ratified in September 2016.

Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Mr Masagos Zulkifli will be in Marrakesh, Morocco from 13 to 19 November 2016 to attend the 22nd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-22) and related meetings[1]. The implementation of the Paris Agreement that entered into force on 4 November 2016 will be a key focus of COP-22. Singapore ratified the Paris Agreement on 21 September 2016.

Minister Masagos will deliver Singapore’s National Statement at the High-Level Segment of COP-22 and attend various High Level Events held at COP-22. Minister Masagos will be accompanied by officials from agencies represented in the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Climate Change.

[1] These include the 12th Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP-12) and the 1st Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (CMA 1).
